HOW THE LWV WORKS:

The League of Women Voters encourages informed and active participation in government and influences public policy through education and advocacy.

The organization is nonpartisan . . .

  • The LWV neither supports nor opposes candidates or political parties.
  • The League advocates on issues that members have studied and on which they have reached consensus.
  • Action is implemented by informational publications and programs, position statements and lobbying.

Making voting easier through voter education programs . . .

  • Pros and Cons: This easy-to-read guide explains state ballot measures.
  • Candidate Forums: Invite all candidates running for local/state/national office
to appear in Forums. Each candidate responds to questions posed by League
    members.
  • Ballot Issue Talks: Members of the League will go to a limited number of meetings of groups to explain current ballot issues.
  • The Voters' Guide and Directory gives addresses and phone numbers of elected officials.

GROW WITH THE LEAGUE:

  • Sharpen your skills in leadership, planning, researching issues, lobbying, public speaking, or tackle a completely new challenge of your own choosing through a grass roots approach.
  • Expand and broaden your horizons through invaluable professional and personal contacts among the people who make things happen in your community.
  • When you join the League, you are automatically a part of it at every level national, state and local. You choose where you want to have an impact from the halls of the U.S. Congress, to the Colorado state capitol, to Pueblo County and to the City of Pueblo.
